CMS Marketing Coordinator Position Available

College Media Solutions’ marketing coordinator creates and implements campaigns to promote sales as well as readership and special events. He/she also hires and supervises a team of marketing interns. This position requires a highly organized leader who can be a liaison with different teams (sales team, newspaper staff, creative services department) and stay on top of timelines for multiple projects at once. Photo Staff Business Manager applications

As 2012-13 SPPS business manager, you will oversee the finances of a budget of about $25,000 per year and build a successful marketing program for great Virginia Tech-related photography from the Student Publications Photo Staff, the Collegiate Times, and The Bugle Yearbook. This is also a leadership position within student media’s umbrella group, EMCVT and the successful candidate will serve on the Management and Advisory Team (MAT). This is a paid position and eligible for work study.

VA Supreme Court says ABC regs may apply to CT, Cav Daily

The Virginia Supreme Court says that whether the Collegiate Times and the Cavalier Daily fall under the definition of “college student publications” under ABC regulations prohibiting alcohol advertising depends on the intent of the newspapers in their distribution.

This sends the case, first filed in 2006, back to the Federal District Court in Richmond.

Bugle Yearbook makes ACP Best of Show list

The 2011 Bugle Yearbook, edited by Caroline Doss, placed fifth in the Associated Collegiate Press’s Best of Show competition at the National College Media Convention in Orlando, held October 26 – 30, 2011.

Collegiate Times places in national awards

Lindsey Brookbank, managing editor, took second place in the Associated Collegiate Press’s Reporter of the Year Award. Zach Crizer, editor in chief, won fourth place for Feature Story of the Year.

The Collegiate Times placed tenth in Best of Show list at the convention, which Brookbank and Crizer attended.
