The Educational Media Company at Virginia Tech, Inc. (EMCVT) is the home of Virginia Tech\'s award-winning student media groups. They provide information, entertainment, and service to the university community.
There are many opportunities for the students to become involved. Each media group is managed by a student Editor-in-Chief or General Manager and a student Business Manager. Students hold jobs and gain experience in journalism, writing, design, photography, broadcasting, business, and advertising. Michelle is a recent Virginia Tech graduate who has been with EMCVT in a variety of roles since 2011. She is the former director of advertising for College Media Solutions and editor-in-chief of the Collegiate Times.
In her term as director of advertising, Michelle boosted summer advertising sales and helped train and mentor a staff of account executives. She helped develop sales and training plans and sold the first advertising in the Collegiate Times mobile application.
As a writer, she was part of a team that received first place in the Virginia Press Association college contest for coverage of the Dec. 8, 2011, campus shooting and third place for breaking news coverage of the Sept. 23, 2011, earthquake. She has also been published in The Atlantic.
We are thrilled that Michelle brings skills and experiences that are directly applicable to so many of the diverse aspects of leading and managing EMCVT’s student media mission and non-profit business.

The Advertising Adviser is responsible for developing student media revenue through advertising sales and underwriting (print, digital, broadcast) and for meeting revenue goals; developing new revenue streams; responsible for hiring, training and motivating student sales managers; and develops strategies, tactics, sales plans and profit targets for Educational Media Company at Virginia Tech student media divisions: Collegiate Times, College Media Solutions, WUVT 90.7 FM, VTTV Channel 33, Silhouette Literary and Art Magazine, and the Bugle yearbook.
